Rosie’s List: that has been my pet project ever since I began this charity. I have been looking to help people who need service dogs or would like to ride a motorcycle with their dog . I have come across charities which, I am afraid to say, have something to sell or compete with other charities for monetary gain. Not every charity, but too many, and they should be ashamed of themselves. I believe that all charities wanting to help people with PTSD, veterans, first responders and trauma survivors should look at themselves as part of a coalition. Every one of us has a passion to save lives and to improve the quality of lives. We need to work together. That way we could make an impact on the statistic of losing our veterans at a rate of 22 per day. In the spirit of my service dog Rosie, who was loyal and loving until her last breath, I want to put together a list of these legitimately caring and dedicated charities – Rosie’s list. The charities I am not putting on Rosie’s list are the ones that I don’t think are genuinely seeking to help people as their main purpose. It’s sad, but they are out there, and there are many. I hope that someday they will want to be on Rosie’s list. It is exhausting enough to look for help to get a service dog. Hopefully, this list will make it so that people don’t have to weed out the scammers and the salesmen of the movement disguised as charities. I will do my best to be a good steward of this list, and hopefully people will come to use it as a trusted resource if they need a service dog or an advocate, if they know someone who does, or if they would like to ride their motorcycle with their service dog. Not to say that all charities not on the list are bad, because I can’t check them all out, but if I do hear of a bad one, I won’t bash them but I will invite them publicly to show some transparency and respond to peoples’ concerns. There’s only one side, one team, one long term goal. We all have to pull together evenly or we risk falling short.
